DONATE
Welcome to 2026! Envision Frederick County has been working hard the past year to engage county residents on matters that impact our land, culture, and character.
In Maryland’s fastest growing county, we’re staying on top of the issues that you need to know about and offering ways to get involved. We’re advocating for action when necessary, to ensure a sustainable and resilient community for all.
We have been busy.
In 2025, we:
- Organized volunteers to raise awareness about the Maryland Piedmont Reliability Project that would install a 70 mile, 500kV high-voltage power line through private homes, farms, and businesses to power Virginia data centers;
- Provided tools for residents to engage in the Maryland Public Service Commission’s permitting process;
- Raised concerns about PJM, the regional transmission organization that manages Maryland’s electric grid and the rising energy costs to consumers;
- Strengthened coalitions within the county and across the state to call for cost-benefit analysis of data centers;
- Aided local communities and groups to better prepare for engaging in the legislative process around data centers;
- Tracked local legislation, proposed zoning changes, and county-wide plans,
and;
- Advocated for sound policies and funding that protect human health and the environment.
REFERENDUM INITIATIVE
And now, we are leading t
he Referendum Petition Initiative. We’re working with our partner organizations to bring the question to voters regarding whether data centers should be expanded into the rural legacy and priority preservation areas in Adamstown, before the state has studied the environmental, energy, and economic impacts of data center development.
We could use your support for this latest action, and to continue the work we have been investing in this past year and for the past 15 years. For the next 60 days, we will be training volunteers and collecting signatures to give Frederick County voters a real voice on data centers. Help us continue advancing a sustainable, resilient Frederick County through civic engagement.

VOLUNTEER
Volunteers will always be an essential part of nearly everything we do, from those who serve on the board directors or our advisory committees, to those who help organize an event, attend a public hearing, help maintain this website, write a letter to an elected official, etc.
Whatever your primary interests, whether you have plenty of time to spare, or very little, there are ways you can help make a difference that matters.
If you have something in mind or you’d like to explore the possibilities, please send an e-mail to Elizabeth at benvision@gmail.com.
